And We Fought

"The movie was really good, I guess Ajay Devgn has done justice to the role!” Exclaimed Sameer.
“Seriously yaar” replied Ritesh.
“So where do we plan to dine?” Asked Sameer.
“I feel like Chinese.” Said Ritesh.
“Right then buddy! Chinese it is.”
Both enter a Chinese restaurant and to Sameer’s surprise Ruchika is seated there already. She is alone and is flipping through the menu.Sameer is really excited to see her and decides to go and talk to her. Just as he decides to approach Ruchika , he sees Rohan entering and immediately occupying a seat next to her. Sameer decides to go and talk to her. He is fuming in anger this time.
“Hi Ruchika .”
“Oh hi Sameer, good to see you. How have you been?”
“Good to see you too, what are you doing here?” (With a lot of sarcasm in his voice).
“I am sorry, I didn’t get you?”
“I thought you liked Italian?” Asked Sameer.
“Yeah but I never said I dislike Chinese and moreover Rohan likes Chinese.” Replied Ruchika.
Rohan became a silent spectator to the ongoing verbal clashes between Sameer and Ruchika. Rohan guessed it in a minute that Sameer has fallen for Ruchika, but is unable to express it. Rohan knew Ruchika well, he knew she would never understand unless Sameer says that he loves her.
“Wait a minute why are we arguing” said Ruchika in a more firm tone.
“Oh so I am the one who is arguing ” Reacted Sameer.
“I don’t understand whats your problem Sameer. I am sorry I couldn’t get back to you, I was keeping busy. I know you are upset because of that.”
“I am not upset, I am in love with you Ruchika, can’t you see?”
There was a minute of silence. The people around almost stopped all other activity to see how Ruchika reacts. Rohan on the other hand had a faint smile on his face, he couldn’t have expressed his happiness there for Ruchika would have certainly not wanted that. Ritesh stood dumstruck!
“What? When did this happen Sameer, I never gave you any indications, then how could you think this”
Sameer didn’t have an answer to this question. He knew in his impulse he said what he shouldn’t have; probably this wasn’t the right time. But now that he had confessed his love he didn’t want to take the step back.
“I guess I fell for you, the minute I saw you, didn’t know if it was love, then, but now I am more that sure, its love. I love you Ruchika.”
Ruchika stood up and walked out of the door. She never replied to what Sameer asked.
“Sameer give her sometime, she will be fine.” said Rohan coolly.
Sameer didn’t want to create a scene in the restaurant, he never looked at Rohan, because his eyes were fixed on Ruchika, he saw her leave. Rohan followed Ruchika.
Ritesh patted Sameer’s back just to assure him, he never did anything wrong, they both stood there till Ruchika went out of sight.

And We Met-II

“Hi , it’s a small world isn’t it Sameer?”

“So you are Ruchika Singhal? The Ruchika Singhal. Sameer Sharma, my friends call me Sam.”

“My friends call me Ruch.”

“So, how come you replaced Mr. Arora?” Asked Sameer.

“Oh! I am assistant to Rohan and yes please don’t call him Mr. Arora else he will jump from this building. He is just 28.”

Sameer felt different maybe jealous when Ruchika spoke about Rohan. He hid his feelings.

They both walked through the college corridor, that was filled with student on either sides. They had to make their way through the crowd. At times Ruchika would keep her hand on Sameers shoulder just to make sure she kept pace with him. Sameer would turn around to see if Ruchika was still around, least he wanted was to lose her in the crowd. Finally they manage their way out.

“What are your plans for the day?”Asked  Sameer.

“Well I am not sure, my assignment is pending and I am way behind schedule.” Replied Ruchika.

“Which means you are busy? Why do you girls play with words, although I know you are really good with it” Mocks Sameer.

“Oh really ? Mr. Sharma how do you know I am good with words.”

“Oh! I was listening to your lecture.” Says Sameer.

“Aah! That, but I thought you were simply looking at me. (smiles, makes a sad face) I didn’t know I was in for a disappointment…. You were just listening…” Laughs away Ruchika.

Sameer is petrified, he least expected Ruchika to be so observant and above all he least expected Ruchika to be so out rightly, brutally truthful. He immediately gathers his senses and tries to reply, only to know he is miserably failing at finding the right answer. There couldn’t be a right answer at that moment. Only the right way could be the confession of love.

“Well I loved the lecture and I was concentrating on the same.” Replied Sameer

That’s the best reply he could think at that moment. He felt relieved, he didn’t want Ruchika to know what he felt for her. He wasn’t sure if she felt the same for him.
Just then Ruchika gets a call.

“Hi Rohan, (Pause), yes I am done with the lecture, yeah I will be there in an hour or so.” Ruchika hangs the call.

“Hey before I forget can I have your number Ruchika.”

“Yeah ofcourse, give me yours too.”

They both exchange the phone numbers.

“Alright, I will give you a call sometime.” Says Sameer.

“Call me only if you are interested in Italian” Chuckles Ruchika.

“I am up for Italian, girls and food both…. Laughs Sameer.

Bye, ciya soon.” Replies Ruchika.

Ruchika sits in the drivers seat of her car and drives away.

Sameer stands there for a minute and walks away.

And We Met-I

“Ruchika!!!!!!!!!! Ruchika Singhal?” Exclaimed Sameer.

“What? Do you know her?” Asked Ritesh.

“She is the same girl I was talking about… It’s a small world. Isn’t it Ritesh?”

“Look at you Mr. Romeo, you can’t get your eyes off her…”

While the conversation between Ritesh and Sameer was going on, Ruchika removed the laptop from the bag and placed the bottle of water on the podium. Ruchika was just about 5ft.2 inches tall, fair and had light brown eyes. She certainly had the looks of a bomshell; she was definitely a head turner.

“My dear students I take immense pleasure in welcoming our guest lecturer Ruchika Singhal.” Said one of the faculty members from the college holding the microphone in his hand.

Ruchika had a smile that could kill many without any violence, she smiled and her eyes met Sameers. She smiled again and waved her hand at him. The crowd that sat there turned their heads to see Sameer blushing. Sameer didn’t respond instead his friend did.

“You are such an idiot, ladki haath dikah rahi hai, aur tu sharma raha hai??”

“But that’s what my surname means! Bhul gaya kya mera naam Sameer Sharma hai.”

Ritesh hits Sameer in his stomach and right at that moment Ruchika starts to speak.

“Hi friends, I am Ruchika Singhal. Your speaker for this hour. I am a student with JJ School of Arts. You guys might be wondering, if I am still a student what am I doing on the other side of the stage?”

The crowd start talking amongst them, only then Ruchika interrupts

“Well that’s one question, even I don’t have an answer for.” Chuckles Ruchika.

“I am here to speak on my passion, Photography.”

Ruchika speaks efficiently for the next one hour only to see Sameer completely involved in her speech, he has a faint smile on his face and twinkle in his eyes. Sameer knew what he thought was just admiration is now love at second sight.

And I Dreamt....

“I met this girl last evening; don’t know where to start from, what all should I tell you about her” said Sameer dreamily.

“Uncle Sam, you are in love aren’t you?” said Ritesh naughtily.

“Shut Up yaar, you should have met her to know what an amazing persona she had.”

“Alright, Sammy what’s her name?”

“Ruchika.”

“Ruchika what?”Asked Ritesh.

“I don’t know Ritesh, I was so lost in her eyes when she spoke, that it never struck me to ask questions.”

The college bell rings.

“Sam, some speaker is coming to the college today. All of us have to attend the guest lecture.”

“What is it about Ritesh?”

“The speaker knows it better and then only God knows what he is going to speak on.”

“HE! Such a big turn off….”

They both have a hearty laugh and walk towards the hall. They enter the hall and find the last few seats vacant. They make themselves comfortable. Sameer takes out his Ipad. He logs in to Facebook and searches for Ruchika, simultaneously the thoughts of her have already occupied his mind. He thinks where I will be able to find her meet her, talk to her. He knows it isn’t love but admiration.

Suddenly a male voice speaks on the microphone.

“Due to last minute emergency, the speaker  Mr. Arora will not be able to make it today.”

The students start clapping and rejoicing when the same voice speaks again.

“But the good news is we have Ms. Singhal to address us, we are expecting her any moment, so please behave yourselves. Do not be a disgrace to the fine repute of this college. ”

A pretty girl enters the room with a laptop bag and a bottle of water.

And It Rained....

Yes, it hurts, after all I am human.

Sameer closed his eyes with this thought and tears rolled down his cheek. He sat alone. He looked up at the dark sky and went back a few years down the lane.

“Mumbai rains are to die for.”

“Excuse me, are you talking to me??” Asked Sameer.

“Yes, you are the only person who can hear me right now” replied Ruchika.

“So you are from Mumbai?”

“Yes, I have always been here, oh! By the way I am Ruchika.”

“Sameer”

“So if it’s not too personal, Can I ask you what do you do Sameer?”

“No, not at all. I am a final year student in Xavier’s College.”

“Ruchika? Right?” (Sameer reassures if he got the name right), what do you do”?

“I am a photographer, dancer, music composer and a painter.”

(Sameer laughs out loud). “No seriously, tell me what do you do”?

“Why do you think I am lying to you? I actually take pictures, dance, compose music and paint.”

“Wohoo!!!!  Must say you are one hell of a female.”

“Alright you don’t believe me? Do you?”

“No it isn’t what you thinking. It’s just that, I can’t imagine one person being so creative.”

“Wait let me get my camera from the car, May be atleast then, you will believe, I am a photographer.”

Ruchika gets a call that interrupts the conversation between them.

“I have to go Sameer, it was nice meeting you, life rahi to fir milenge, bye!!!!!”

Sameer stood there not knowing how to react and what to say. He simply stood there and watched Ruchika leave.

No Demands ;)

“I love you, Diya.”

“I love you too, what’s with you Sudhanshu?? Anything bothering you?”

“No Diya, can’t I just say that I love you.”

“Ofcourse you can, but for now simply spit it out”

“How I wish I can drown in your pretty eyes Diya??”

“They are not any lake or sea that you would want to drown in them, they are my eyes for god sake, get out of that dreamland”

“You are just not the romantic types, isn’t it Diya?”

“Yeah and you are Raj Kapoor’s grandson when it comes to romance, right?”

“Hahahaha!!!, I don’t know about Raj Kapoor, but I am Pitambar Prasad Chaudhary’s grandson.”

“Ufff!!!!  You and your pathetic jokes, Sudhanshu you are sick….”

“Alright, I LOVE YOU Diya .”

“That’s an easy escape Mr. Chaudhary”

“So whats that on your forehead?”

“Where? What? What are you talking about Sudhanshu?”

“Alright just stay still, let me do that for you….”

“Take the pains to tell me what is it, Sudhanshu??”

Sudhanshu leans forward and kisses Diya on her forehead. There is a minute of silence and the smile refuses to leave Diya’s lips. Sudhanshu breaks the silence and says

“Diya, there is something on your lips this time….”

“Oh really Sudhanshu? Don’t you think you are getting too demanding? ;)”

Of Sim Cards and Beyond that…..

A subscriber identity module or subscriber identification module (SIM) is an integrated circuit that securely stores the service-subscriber key (IMSI)used to identify a subscriber on mobile telephony devices (such as mobile phones and computers).
A SIM is held on a removable SIM card, which can be transferred between different mobile devices. SIM cards were first made the same size as a credit card (85.60 mm × 53.98 mm × 0.76 mm). The development of physically smaller mobile devices prompted the development of a smaller SIM card, the mini-SIM card. Mini-SIM cards have the same thickness as full-size cards, but their length and width are reduced to 25 mm × 15 mm.
A SIM card contains its unique serial number (ICCID), internationally unique number of the mobile user (IMSI), security authentication and ciphering information, temporary information related to the local network, a list of the services the user has access to and two passwords (PIN for usual use and PUK for unlocking).
Now you would be wondering, why am I going “gaga” over this sim card?? Well a couple of days back my sweetheart friend decided to clean her phone. Yes! You read that right. Clean the phone. She said, “My phone is full of dust and shit, I need to clean it.”
She usually takes her office cab to work. The day was no different; she was in her cab when she made up her mind to “clean” her phone. In the process of cleaning the same, she managed to misplace her sim card. I am sure she must have put in a lot of effort to find the same but all in vain.
A couple of hours later I get an email from her,
Hi,

I have lost my sim card..

please mail (xyz@gmail.com )me incase of any emergency... or leave a message on fb...

It may take a while to get a new number/sim.

Thanks!

Have a super awesome day ahead!

-me
Now she doesn’t have a sim card and is extremely adamant about not getting one soon, so I am not able to call her and talk to her. Its Friendship day this Sunday and I won’t be able to wish her. This is beyond my forte to be a superwoman and convince her to get a sim card soon, so that I can talk to her everyday and especially on Sunday J
I hereby request all my blog readers to please post a comment saying, "best friend please get a sim soon, I miss talking to you"

Do something good this friendship day because friendship surely is beyond sim cards J
