Lets waste Time

Endless conversations over the phone are what have occupied the top place on the daily routine chart (an absolute waste of time, according to the elders). Ofcourse you need a person at the other end. I have found one such wonderful person, who is so good with words.

A couple of days back over a telephonic conversation me and Yam started discussing about the kind of music we like. To my surprise! Our choices just don’t match. The first shocker and I think, “Should I even continue??”Alright, so I decide to tell her a few of my personal favorites. Second shocker when Yam says, “I hate songs that are loud…”

I decide, she has to like one of the songs or else no more conversations with her and we are strangers again. For the kind of person I am, I am really passionate about music and I like sharing my playlist, because if you have one good song and my friend has another then I have two good songs.

So I decide to tell her why I love a few songs on my playlist. My all time favorite song is Chasing cars by Snow Patrol. A song that starts on a low note and ends really high. Guitars and the drum play out really wild towards the end of the song. I was more than sure Yam will never like it. I played the right trick; I told her why I like the song…. Its this line that makes the song really special, “Lets waste time chasing cars…”

“Imagine a multi storey building, and the terrace of that building, imagine the two of us sitting on the parapet wall of the terrace and when we look down all we can see is flashes of lights of the moving cars…. Lights in all direction, flashy, intense moving lights. I am sure we can spend hours together just looking at the moving chaos isn’t it?”

And I get no reply to the vivid description I give. I know Yam is not convinced and I am just not successful in changing her opinion. But I know someday I will be able to, not to change her opinion but to take her to one such place where we can waste our time chasing cars…..

Uncensored

“Good morning, I dreamt that I have come to meet you and you have shifted to a multi storey building”
“Lol so you dream about me these days…”
“haha! I told you. You are the stuff of nightmares.”
“That’s not my problem lady if you end up dreaming about me J
“hehe.. so all set for the semis… its going to be a thriller.”
“Agar aaj India jeet gaya na aanchal tu jo bole wo…”
“Aise kitno ko promise kiya hai Raghav , diwala nikal jayega.”
“Only you, Ek atankwadi he kaafi hai meri life main… One at a time you see.”
“Don’t take the siesta today aanchal.”
“Alarm lagaya hai 2:30 pm ka.”

The semi finals between India and Pakistan was the most talked about event in the last couple of days. Such events also keep the adrenaline pumping. But, who knew there is a parallel event going on somewhere on the planet.

“Oh damn! Raghav  viru out ho gaya.”
“No worries aanchal its our day…. I am sure India is going to win this one.”
“Ofcourse Ragahav.”

So the text messaging between  Raghav and Annchal continues until Raghav decides to concentrate on the match. Also he knows aanchal has some unfinished work and decides not to disturb her. But who knew the unfinished work was never going to be finished. Beep Beep!!!

“India have managed a decent score 260/9… thought will update you on the score.”
“Oh I have seen the entire innings after ages Raghav. Didn’t go out ;) Aaj sabki chutti thi.”
“Acha?? You should have come home then.”
“Parents are out of station, grandparents are alone at home can’t leave them for so long.So thought will give them company”
“So long?? I cant bear you over ten minutes aanchal, you seriously think I can sit with you for hours together??”
“Meri line mujhpar ?? Not allowed! Vaise you don’t lie very well :P
“I am just kidding aanchal , you are amongst the few people whom I really admire… and I am not lying this time…”

India went on to win the semi finals last night and the conversation between Aanchal and Raghav abruptly stopped….

I wonder what is Aanchal thinking J?????

Turn Back Time

I have had so many friends visiting me in the last couple of weeks that now my Mom is confused with their names ;)

A dear friend visited me last Saturday. I knew I was going to be in my best behavior and had this one chance to create a first positive impression. I dressed up accordingly and was waiting for her to come (not to mention I was meeting her for the first time!).

She came along, like a gush of wind! Gave bunch of flowers to my mom and a polythene packet in my hand. I asked what was inside that and she said it’s some sweet. I escorted her to my room. Gave her a chair and made her comfortable.

A couple of minutes later I felt like I have known her all my life. Who could say it was the first time we met in person. Many would find it strange but I don’t. We spoke for hours together. Yes, not to forget the awesome “paneer pakoda” and a hot cup of coffee just made the evening a real good one.

We spoke about everything we could possibly think about, just in case anybody was observing us might have only thought, “Do they even understand that there is comma, full stop etc…”But no, there was just no stopping. We continued to talk for a long time till she realized she had to make a move.

I waved her good bye and only hoped to meet her again. But I have a confession to make. The moment she left my place I thought….. “If only, I could turn back time”.

“Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye”

“Many people say that they have a sweet tooth I say I have a sweet denture…..”

Its 7 pm I am watching a movie with my folks. My phone rings, I see a familiar name, it’s a call from my friend Ankita. I pick the call at once and greet her. We start a conversation and in the due course of the conversation she says that she would come and meet me at 11 am the next day. We talk about many other things happening around and finally hang up the call.

A brand new sunny day (Nagpur experiences summer right in the month of March, sad but true). As expected Ankita arrives exactly at 11 am (very punctual, just like me!!!).She is carrying this box in her hand, and I am curious to know what’s inside it? She doesn’t even bother to turn around and tell me what has she got? Whether it is for me? I am just clueless.

She calls out to my mom and hands her the box and tells maa , “Aunty yeh laddu hai, dryfriuts wale…. My uncle sent them from Kanpur. They are from a very famous shop called Thaggu ke Laddu. The famous quote in Kanpur associated with the shop is Aisa koi saga nahi jisko humne thaga nahi”. And I think, I have heard it somewhere, the next moment Ankita turns around, looks at me (Finally!!!!!!) and says, “have you seen Bunty aur Bubli”? I nod in agreement and there, she goes, “This line is used in the movie too!” (filmy gyan by Ankita)

Ever since she got those laddus I have made it a point to have them after lunch. And seriously they are the most amazing sweets I have ever tasted. Like I said I have a sweet denture, Ankita helped me stick to my greed.

Whether its chocolates or Laddu, Ankita you have brought a lot of sweetness in my life. Truly “Aisa koi saga nahi, jisko humne thaga nahi”.
